Prayer Web nominated in design contest

Prayer Web works just as well in a computer as in a mobile or tablet. Photomontage: Niklas Wiil

Five years ago, the Church of Sweden launched a globally unique prayer website. Since that time, tens of thousands of prayers have been written there. Prayer Web has now been updated to feature a new design that also allows you to light a candle. The website is one of the nominees in the Designpriset (Design Award) contest in the Identity category, with the digital entry Böner och ljus (Prayers and Candles), bönewebben (Prayer Web).

“It is both pleasing and an honour to be nominated for this award. Saying prayers and lighting candles are among the deepest expressions of our anxiety, longing and gratitude. Increasing numbers of people visit our churches specifically for silent worship, and it feels good that we are also able to provide a forum for people’s spirituality online,” says the Church of Sweden’s Head of Communications Gunnar Sjöberg.

The winner is chosen by the public, who vote for the best entry.  As of today, you can vote for Prayer Web at www.designpriset.se

Prayer Web was designed by Niklas Wiil at Phosworks on behalf of the Church of Sweden.
