The new church guide app will get you to the wedding!

The Church of Sweden is launching a new app for Iphone that will guide you to over 3000 churches. The app will also let you contact your parish to book a wedding, christening or funeral.

“The Church of Sweden is nationwide. With the Church of Sweden app ‘Kyrkguiden’ you can find the church you are looking for. This could be the closest church or a church you will visit for a christening, wedding or funeral,” says Mattias Hallberg, communications officer for the Church of Sweden’s internet section in Uppsala.

The app also allows you to create your own calendar with reminder function, for example for the church services or concerts you would like to attend.

“If you are going to a wedding the app will get you to the church. You just search using the map, county, municipality or church name," explains Mattias Hallberg.

The app also has E-mail addresses and telephone numbers so that parishes can be contacted to book a church for a wedding, christening or funeral, or if you have any other questions.

The app will also display the thought for the week and a new brief sermon, interpreting the topic of the Sunday service and the scriptures in the modern era, as well as highlighting relevant messages for today.

The Kyrkguiden app is now available for Iphone. The Android version of the app will be released at the beginning of 2012. The Church of Sweden already has an app for http://itunes.apple.com/se/app/utomlands/id436976082?mt=8 and for Android for the Church of Sweden Abroad.
