Denmark's best mobile network

TDC customers have best mobile network in the country. This is the conclusion of a nationwide analysis of mobile coverage in Denmark carried out by the Danish Technological Institute (DTI).

Over the past 14 months, TDC has upgraded all of the company's 3,400 mobile phone masts. Funding the upgrade is an investment of some DKK 4 billion, which will now benefit their customers.

The technical analysis is based on readings taken in a total of 500 sites around the country, where the DTI has compared the most important parameters for use of mobile networks: the stability, voice quality and data speeds of Denmark's four nationwide mobile networks.

Best mobile network experience

Overall, the DTI report concludes that Denmark is covered by four strong mobile networks, and that:

"Looking at Denmark as a whole, TDC has the best overall customer experience compared to Telenor, Telia and 3."

"We are extremely proud of the result; that TDC now covers 99.5 per cent of Denmark with the best mobile network. Our fast and stable network gives our mobile phone customers even more options, while also providing us with a firm foundation on which to fulfil our ambition of being the leading provider of entertainment to the Danish people," says Johan Kirstein Brammer, Senior Executive Vice President of Consumer  in the TDC Group, and continues:

"It is also important to stress that TDC's upgrade of the network does not end with the publication of the DTI report. In 2015 alone, we will be putting more than 100 new masts into operation."

Danish users to help

In future, Danish users can help improve coverage by reporting their data speeds. This can be done using the new app, TDC Netperform, which sends information about the customers' data speed to TDC. The development of the network will then be based on all the data submitted.

"We cannot promise an immediate improvement, but we can promise that we will keep a close eye on any problem areas. The customers' experiences and the feedback they give us are crucial, so we will continue to improve Denmark's best mobile network," concludes Johan Kirstein Brammer.

Facts about:

  • The study, which was also carried out in 2014, is based on readings taken at 500 sites selected by the DTI without knowledge of the location of the masts. At each site, all four mobile networks were tested for call quality, streaming quality, as well as upload and download time, which represents daily use of mobile phones today.
  • Today, TDC is launching a new app, TDC Netperform, which customers can use to give feedback to TDC regarding mobile coverage. The app measures the data speed at a location and sends information about the exact location to TDC's technical department. The measurements are anonymous.
  • TDC now covers around 99.5 per cent of Denmark with outdoor mobile coverage.
