Rider Profile: Gregg Thompson

With less than two weeks to go until Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100, we're taking a closer look our #TeamSCT.

Name:

Gregg Thompson

Age:

35

From:

Essex

Motivation:

In 2010, Gregg’s one-year-old son George went into toxic shock after burning himself with hot tea. He was rushed to Great Ormond Street Hospital where he was resuscitated and put on a life support machine. While George was in hospital, The Sick Children’s Trust provided a room for his father to stay in, so if anything happened during the night he would be just a few minutes from his bedside.

Sporting achievements:

Earlier this year, Gregg raised money for The Sick Children’s Trust by completing the London Marathon and Tough Mudder within one week of each other. He has also completed two marathons before.

Biggest challenge:

Gregg was hampered by a calf injury while running the London Marathon, so his biggest challenge will be putting all those niggling injuries and illnesses behind him and counting down the miles.

We wish Gregg the best of luck.
