#Simonsays...Let's step it up a gear

"Since January 2015 our grandson Theo has been in and out of Great Ormond Street Hospital undergoing cancer treatment. On countless occasions Jeremy and Yvonne have been able to stay in The Sick Children's Trust's 'Home from Home' Guilford Street House just round the corner.

"It's now seven weeks before the big event so my training is stepping up a gear after a rest week. I use the term 'rest week' not as in putting my feet up and watching telly, sadly, but as in cycling for just 80 miles instead of my usual 120. So this week I cycled 20 miles on Sunday and yesterday 76 miles (a record for me), in the saddle for 5 hours, drinking and eating on the wing - bananas and Jo's amazing flapjacks and rice cakes, which kept me going. My reward today is that I have hit my £1000 target, thanks to all who have given so far. Yippee!

"The Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 follows the course of the 2012 Olympic 100 mile road race, taking in the major sights of London as well as climbing Box Hill and Leith Hill (AKA Lethal). I am training hard on my new carbon fibre bike, my birthday present from Jo. She also bought me a snazzy lycra outfit. As you can see, I am a kept man and have no excuses for failing in this quest. Your support through JustGiving will also keep me going and if you are anywhere near the course on 31st July, please hold out a banana as I pedal by."

Another update will be on it's way soon, please keep an eye out.
Best,
Simon.
