Ambassador Margaret Keys launches new album and visits London

A charity ambassador for The Sick Children’s Trust is excited to announce her new album launch and tour featuring performances in Derry and London.

Irish Classical Soprano Margaret Keys, who was named last year as an official ambassador for The Sick Children’s Trust – a charity which supports families with seriously ill children in hospital with free ‘Home from Home’ accommodation – will launch ‘The Gift of Music’ on Friday 22 June, perform Saturday 23 June at Derry’s Waterside Theatre and then Live at Zedel in London on Tuesday 26 June.

The classical singer has been a supporter of The Sick Children’s Trust since 2015 when she was invited to perform at its annual Christmas Carol Service in London. Since then, Margaret has gone above and beyond in helping the charity raise vital funds by donating her time and raising awareness of the charity’s support for families with seriously ill children. On her visits to the UK’s capital, Margaret calls into the charity’s three London ‘Homes from Home’, Stevenson House which supports families with children at The Royal London Children’s Hospital and Rainbow and Guilford Street Houses, which support families with children at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Margaret, whose new album showcases her great versatility as a performer, says:

“I recently visited Stevenson House in London and saw first-hand the difference the charity’s work makes for so many families in desperate need of support. I am in awe of what The Sick Children’s Trust does – it’s a very worthwhile cause with a wonderful team of people behind it. I am so proud to be named an official ambassador and wear the title with pride.

“I’m looking forward to heading back to London on Tuesday 26 June to perform at Live at Zedel and showcase my new album to everyone. I’m also hoping to go along to The Sick Children’s Trust’s ‘Homes from Home’ and meet more families who the charity supports in the most difficult times.”

The Sick Children’s Trust runs ten ‘Homes from Home’, supporting around 4,000 families from across the UK, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland and beyond with children undergoing specialist treatment at leading children’s hospitals in England. Chief Executive at The Sick Children’s Trust, Jane Featherstone, says:

“I would personally like to thank Margaret for her dedication to the charity, and for the warmth and empathy she shows towards the families under our care. We couldn’t be more grateful for the time and support she has given – and we’re very much looking forward to continuing to work with her in the years to come.

“Everyone at The Sick Children’s Trust is wishing Margaret the very best with her album launch and tour.”

Margaret will also be performing at The Sick Children’s Trust event ‘An audience with Michael Crawford’ at The Guildhall in Cambridge, England, on Wednesday 15 August.
