Family fun day raises over £1,000 for children’s charity

A charity fun day held at Ripon City AFC in memory of a brave baby girl has raised a total of £1,053.17 in aid of charity The Sick Children’s Trust which supported their family in hospital.

Local family Nick and Sophie Horsburgh held the event in memory of their baby daughter Brooke who sadly passed away in February 2012.

“The Sick Children’s Trust provided us with ‘Home from Home’ accommodation allowing us precious time with our baby girl and this was a great way to say thank you. The money raised will help other families in a similar situation” said Nick and Sophie.

The day consisted of a charity football match, BBQ, bouncy castle, raffle and other activities. Nick and Sophie would like to say a huge thank you to all those who came and supported the day and gave so generously to a charity so close to their hearts.

Thank you also to those who donated raffle prizes including Morrisons, Turkish Baths, Kelly Teggin, Bill Plant, Prima Pizza, Hello Mellow Treats, Damn Yankee and the many others.

Jane Featherstone, Head of Fundraising at The Sick Children’s Trust, says: ‘It costs us £28 a night to provide a room for a family, so the money raised at Brooke’s Family Fun Day will help over 30 families stay together. A big thank you to everyone who attended the event, or supported by donating prizes.’

Anyone who could not make it to the event can donate online at www.justgiving.com/Brookescharityday.
