The world's largest IT trade fair CeBit uses the real-time service Twingly Live

Today the world's largest IT trade fair CeBit starts in Hannover, Germany. CeBit includes the major web conference WebCiety2010 and during this event one can follow the discussion on Twitter about what is happening on stage with the real-time service Twingly Live. This will be displayed on the conference and at webciety.de. WebCiety2010 is the first event ever in Germany to use Twingly Live.

At major world events, such as the earthquake in Chile or the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, a growing number of people connects through social media like Twitter and Facebook to discuss and comment on developments. Social media is becoming a gathering place for spreading information, asking questions and speaking up on important news and current events. This is something that several of the larger traditional media are also focusing on through reporting directly via Twitter, for example. Even more specific events such as conferences and rock concerts are using real-time services to engage participants and spread information to people who are not actually taking part in the event.

"There is the phenomenon that current events and happenings are involving people on the real-time web, like via Twitter", says Martin Källström, CEO of Twingly. "At the same time, there is also considerable interest in real-time monitoring and to participate in these conversations, both online and onsite for the actual participants of the events. This is why we have developed the service Twingly Live".

Twingly Live has been used at multiple conferences in Sweden. During the Olympics in Vancouver all the major Swedish media, like the daily Dagens Nyheter and public television SVT, used the service to connect its news coverage in real-time online.

"The interest in Twingly Live is constantly growing and we are developing new ways to use the service in cooperation with our 100 media and business partners across Europe", says Martin Källström. "It is a major breakthrough for us to now also reach out to Germany with Twingly Live."

Twingly Live will be used throughout the web conference WebCiety in Hannover on March, 2nd-6th. Real-time conversation can be monitored through both, large screens at the conference as well as on WebCiety's website. To enter the feed, posts on Twitter must be tagged with #webciety.

In Germany Twingly already has several customers using its other product, the blog service Twingly Blogstream. Among others, you can see it running on Handelsblatt.com and Freitag.de.
