Press release -
Dutch of Scotland comes to Amsterdam
Tourism businesses from around Scotland – from Gretna to Loch Ness – are in Amsterdam this week as part of a mission to grow the £76 million Dutch market.
Organised by VisitScotland, the national tourism organisation, and taking place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel at Amsterdam Schiphol airport tomorrow (Wednesday 28 September), the business development mission will see ten Scottish businesses meet with key tour operators from the Netherlands.
Behind the USA, Germany and France, the Netherlands is Scotland’s fourth biggest overseas market, with the country welcoming 157,000 visitors in 2015.
The Netherlands has a number of direct air links to Scotland, including Flybe’s six-times-a-week service between Amsterdam and Dundee, which was launched in May.
The companies heading to Amsterdam are:
• Speyside Wildlife (based in Grantown on Spey)
• Gretna Green
• Highland Safaris
• Freedom Hotels (hotels in Peebles, Kinross, Glencoe, Crieff, Oban and Ballachulish)
• DoubleTree by Hilton (Dundee)
• Jacobite Cruises (Loch Ness)
• National Trust for Scotland
• Dundee and Angus Council
• Discovery Point & RRS Discovery
The Amsterdam event is VisitScotland’s first European business development mission of 2016. It will be followed by missions to France and Spain in October and to Germany in November.
