Press release -

Nicky Campbell to appear at Who Do You Think You Are? Live Scotland

Award-winning TV and radio presenter Nicky Campbell is set to share his family history story later this month at Who Do You Think You Are? Live Scotland, which will kick off at Glasgow’s SECC on Friday 29 August 2014.

Appearing on the opening day of the show, the Long Lost Family presenter will reflect on his experiences of filming his episode of Who Do You Think You Are?, an adoption special, which saw him trace the roots of his adoptive family in Scotland and Australia rather than his biological forebears.

Andy Healy, Show Director, commented:
“We are thrilled to have confirmed Nicky Campbell as our celebrity guest for Who Do You Think You Are? Live Scotland. With just over a week to go, we’re putting the finishing touches to the show and are looking forward to welcoming Nicky and family historians of all levels to this exciting genealogy event.”

Sponsored by Ancestry.co.uk and supported by Homecoming Scotland, the two-day show will give visitors access to specialist workshops, leading genealogists, archives and museums, major online subscription sites and one of the largest collections of family history organisations.

Who Do You Think You Are? Live Scotland is based on the popular television programme, produced by Wall to Wall (a Warner Bros. Television Productions UK company), which recently returned to BBC One. Celebrating both 10 years on our screens and its 100th episode, the new series will see celebrities including Billy Connolly, Julie Walters, Mary Berry, Brian Blessed and Twiggy trace their family trees to uncover the stories of their ancestors.

Kathryn Taylor, Series Producer of Who Do You Think You Are?, said:
“It’s great that Who Do You Think You Are? Live is coming to Scotland. The event will hopefully be a big draw for existing viewers and fans of the show – as well as those new to Who Do You Think You Are? It will be a fantastic forum for sharing questions, finding answers and expertise and discovering more about how to go about doing the type of research that viewers see on the TV shows! I hope it will enthuse even more people to start exploring their own family histories and encourage viewers to take the plunge themselves.”

Tickets for Who Do You Think You Are? Live Scotland are available now online at whodoyouthinkyouarelive.com or by calling 0844 8737330. Advanced single tickets are priced £14 for adults and £24 for a two-day ticket, while children under 16 go free.
