Press release -

Scotland’s stunning lochs partner with new tour adventure

A new way to experience two of Scotland's most stunning lochs has been launched today (Monday 12th May).

The ‘Two Lochs Tour’ offers locals and visitors to Loch Lomond & the Trossachs a fantastic new cruise experience offering people a chance to enjoy both Loch Lomond and Loch Katrine on the same day.

A new partnership formed between the Loch Katrine Experience and Cruise Loch Lomond has developed The 'Two Lochs Tour' which will run between 24th May and 29th September, part of a growing waterbus service, encouraging visitors to explore more of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park by boat, bike and foot.

The tour can begin at either the Trossachs Pier at Loch Katrine or Tarbet Pier at Loch Lomond with visitors able to enjoy a leisurely cruise followed by walking or cycling through the stunning Trossachs woodland before joining the second cruise of the day. Cycle Hire is provided by Katrienwheelz, Loch Katrine and Cruise Loch Lomond at Tarbet Pier respectively.  Cruise Loch Lomond operates a fleet of seven vessels plying the Waterbus Routes across Loch Lomond on scheduled reliable services and visitors to Loch Katrine enjoy a special trip on Steamship Sir Walter Scott, one of Scotland’s oldest and most historic vessels.

For visitors unable to walk or cycle the four miles to Inversnaid or Stronachlachar, a bus link is provided by Stirling Council with 'Demand Responsive Transport' (DRT), to link areas which have no direct regular bus service.

Chairman of Scotland’s national tourism organisation, Mike Cantlay, launched the new tour at Stronachlachar Pier, on Loch Katrine. He said;

Mike Cantlay, Chairman of VisitScotland, said;

“I am delighted to launch the new Two Lochs Tour which is a great example of partnership working between Loch Katrine and Cruise Loch Lomond. Scotland boasts many idyllic spots and none more so than Loch Lomond and the Trossachs which is stunning at any time of the year.

“This year Scotland welcomes the world with the Commonwealth Games, The Ryder Cup and a fantastic programme of more than 700 events in the Homecoming Scotland calendar so I would encourage as many people as possible to spread the news about coming to this part of Scotland this year, and encourage as many friends and family as possible to enjoy the Two Lochs Tour and experience the marvellous scenery and friendly hospitality to be found here.”

Gordon Allan, Managing Director, the 'Loch Katrine Experience' and Stuart Cordner, Managing Director, Cruise Loch Lomond, said;

“We are happy to announce that we are working together this year to offer the 'Two Lochs Tour' an exciting new product which has been introduced to allow visitors to enjoy a cruise on both 'Loch Katrine' and 'Loch Lomond' on the same day.  We are delighted with the support received from Mike

and look forward to welcoming even more visitors here.”

Mairi Bell, Head of Visitor Experience at Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park said:

“We’re very keen to help visitors explore more of the National Park by boat, bike and foot, so it’s great that the growing waterbus service includes the Two Lochs tour, linking Loch Lomond with Loch Katrine.”
