GE Healthcare hosts Automation Expo in Uppsala

The GE Healthcare Automation Expo mini-fair took place over three intensive hours at the company’s Boländerna site. Entrepreneurs in automation met GE employees as well as other interested companies. During the day, GE also presented its challenges in automation and digitization. A guided tour of its facilities was also included in the programme.

“Today, much is talked about how automation can streamline processes and reduce resource and energy use in all industries,” says Kristin Hellman, who participated in the planning of the fair through Uppsala BIO’s Industrial Partnership project, which supports GE Healthcare in finding new partners or new innovations that strengthen the company’s business.

In the life science industry, and the production of complex biopharmaceuticals in particular, it is often the manufacturing process’s quality and reliability that is assessed, which means that the need for automation solutions increases.

“There was a lot of interest in participating and it is clear that automation is an interesting area and the mini-fair an effective way to get actors from different industries to meet,” says Kristin.
