TdB Consultancy new partner to Uppsala BIO

Uppsala BIO’s most recently recruited partner is TdB Consultancy, an Uppsala-based business specialised in dextran and dextran derivatives.

As well as specialising in dextran and dextran derivatives, the company also has expertise in most aspects of polysaccharide chemistry. This includes not only synthesis, but also chemical and physicochemical characterisation. The business started in Uppsala in 1991 and has considerable experience in developing products from laboratory bench to full-scale production, a process where not only chemical aspects have to be taken into account, but also cost management and environmental issues. At present, TdB Consultancy can produce up to 5 to 10 kg batch sizes.

“We started as a consultancy enterprise and then introduced products for research and development in pharmaceuticals, diagnostics and biotech”, says Charlotte de Belder Tesseus, TdB Consultancy CEO. “Over the years, we have developed many types of dextran sulphates for customers, differing in molecular weight, degree of sulphation and also method of synthesis”.

Each stage of production is handled within company premises at Uppsala Business Park. Customers are essentially from academia or pharmaceutical, biotech and diagnostic companies, where dextrans have several areas of application.

Uppsala’s life science network is important to Charlotte de Belder Tesseus and TdB Consultancy.
