Stanley-Bostitch Redefines the Term “User-Friendly” With Its New 16 Gauge Finish Nailer Kit

June 4, 2008 – NEW YORK, NY – Stanley-Bostitch announced today the introduction of its new 16 gauge finish nailer kit – the model FN1664K – for applications including moldings, door/window casings, trim, hardwood flooring, furniture, and woodworking. Product Manager Mark Tadros said, “The new model FN1664K is engineered to help professionals achieve the level of craftsmanship they were always capable of producing.” According to Tadros, extensive field research identified the right features and durable characteristics that pros truly want. “We incorporated all of these key features into a specially-designed tool that receives high marks from pros and DIY’ers alike.”

Weighing only 3.9 pounds, the Stanley®-Bostitch® FN1664K accepts standard 16 gauge finish nails between 1˝ and 2-1/5˝ long. The tool’s weight & balance are complemented by an over-molded grip to help maximize comfort and minimize fatigue during overhead applications or prolonged use. The FN1664K’s oil-free design requires no regular maintenance, nor does it pose the risk of irreversible oil stains on expensive trim material.

With a storage capacity of 110 nails, the tool’s magazine features a dry-fire lockout feature to prevent the driver blade from creating unsightly marks on stain-grade trim after the magazine empties its nail reserve.

The FN1664K features Dial-A-Depth® technology for setting nails to precise depths without changing compressor settings. Its ultra-quiet rear exhaust, located at the end of the handle, directs air away from the user to eliminate blowback. Clearing jams is done in a flash thanks to tool-free access to the drive channel.

The FN1664K offers a swivel air fitting for added maneuverability while its integrated filter protects the tool’s internal components from contaminants. Its selectable trigger system, located slightly above the trigger, converts from sequential to contact mode in just seconds. A reversible belt hook provides easy transportability with a special bonus … an integrated pencil sharpener for easy access when marking/scribing trim or molding.

With the exception of Stanley®-Bostitch® tools, all other finish nailers offer a single non-marring tip, which forces professionals to use a “one size fits all” approach to trim. However, the FN1664K breaks through the barrier with the industry’s only (patent pending) set of four non-marring profile tips to assume the shape of a host of finish-related materials. The kit includes a convex tip for fluted trim, an offset tip for door/window molding, a tongue-and-groove tip for hardwood flooring, and a recess tip for crown molding.

The FN1664K brad nailer kit includes the basic tool; plastic carrying case; 1,000 brad nails, hex wrench, and operator’s manual. Available in February 2009, this unit is expected to retail for approximately $169.
