DEWALT® Grows Line of Abrasive Accessories

TOWSON, MD (May 26, 2016) – DEWALT announces new bonded abrasive cutting wheels for ferrous metal and stainless steel applications, coated abrasive mesh sandpaper for construction and wood sanding applications, and continuous synthetic diamond rim tile cutting blades for glass tile applications.

The new High Performance aluminum oxide cutting wheel range will include 1/16” and 0.040” thicknesses. The 1/16” wheels allow end-users to maximize wheel life when cutting heavy gauge material such as structural steel, black pipe, and rebar. On average, the new 1/16” cutting wheels have 74% more life than versus standard DEWALT wheels when cutting 1/2” threaded rod. The 0.040” wheels are designed to increase cutting speed and smoothness when cutting in thin gauge materials such as square tubing, stainless steel, and sheet metal. Test results show that the new 0.040” cutting wheels are 28% faster on average versus standard DEWALT wheels when cutting ¾” steel tubing.

In addition, DEWALT will launch a new 0.045” thick Extended Performance cutting wheel range. The new Extended Performance 0.045” cutting wheels are designed to cut a variety of ferrous and stainless steel materials. The Extended Performance wheels contain ceramic grain that provide long life and speed when cutting. These new 0.045” cutting wheels are 24% faster on average than the current DEWALT Extended Performance wheels when cutting 3/4” steel tubing. Each new DEWALT High Performance and Extended Performance cutting wheel range features a high grain concentration that allows for aggressive yet smooth cutting, long life, and a high material removal rate. Each allows the user a high level of productivity their application needs and product specifications.

Mesh sandpaper from DEWALT extends performance over traditional DEWALT sandpaper. Silicon carbide grain with a cloth backing is not only durable but also hand washable. This means that it can be cleaned for use over and over which decreases clogging and extends its useful life. Another benefit of DEWALT mesh sandpaper is that it provides universal dust extraction which eliminates the need to purchase sandpaper with a dedicated hole pattern when used on power tools. For use in construction, woodworking, cabinetry and furniture installation, this mesh sandpaper is a long-lasting product that is designed to work without loading and clogging and provides the added benefit of universal dust collection.

Finally, new DEWALT glass tile blades offer a very low amount of chipping when cutting of glass tile for use in the commercial and residential construction, remodeling, and installation trades. A dense mix of very fine synthetic diamonds on the rim of blades are designed to minimize chipping and tile breakout. With an ultra-tensioned core, the glass tile blade is designed to reduce vibration and make clean, straight cuts.
