Carbon monoxide is still killing 100's of people and injuring thousands

The web sites that give information and medical and legal help, www.carbonmonoxidekills.com, www.carbonmonoxidelaw.net, www.carbonmonoxidelawyer.com have seen an increased even over the summer period. It is very difficult to say if there are actually more cases of exposure or if people are now more aware.

The reason for the difficulty is that almost nowhere on the globe are the statistics collated around deaths or injuries. English speaking western countries Like the USA and the UK, state that there are X figure of deaths and Y figure of injuries. How on earth anyone can anyone officially state a figure for either if there is no officially reliable statistics. the USA is fragmented because of it size and different state standards, together with the fact that toxisity for carbon monoxide is not a routine test done post mortem. The same is true of the UK with coroners reporting to the Home Office rather than the Department of heath.

Rob Aiers says, 'It is utterly shambolic" he also said, "Even when people know that there has been an incident of exposure, your chances of someone at the ER having a great understanding of the issue or its signs and symptoms are slim."

The only answer is to properly measure at the ER or postmortem, this may cost money at first BUT what if we find that it is actually costing our healthcare system or welfare system fortunes in repeate visits, or loss of social function. In the long run the state may save many millions long term
