Stockholm events in June

Outdoor festivals, concerts, summer exhibitions, a royal wedding, sporting events and culture activities. The list of event- highlights in June is huge. It already starts this weekend with three major events: Kiss Koncert at Friends Arena, the Dans Dakar music festival and ASICS Stockholm Marathon.

June includes several bank holidays, starting on June sixth with the National Day celebration at Skansen with the Royal family and a new horse racing event: The Nationaldagsgaloppen. A few days later, June 8th, the Royal Wedding of Princess Madeleine and Mr Christopher O'Neill will take place in the Palace Church.  On June 21-23 entire city of Stockholm moves to the countryside or the archipelago for Midsummer celebrations. If you happen to be here the outdoor museum Skansen is the place to visit.

Exhibition premieres in June

Fashion and design are popular themes for this summers exhibitions. The Fashion world of Jean Paul Gaultier (starts June 15) at Swedish Architecture and Design Center, Fashion, Figures and Faces (13/6) paintings of Mats Gustafson at Millesgården, Home Sweet Home interior design (27/6) at Liljevalchs and Stockholm New - fashion photography meets masterpiece painting ( 4/6) at Thielska Gallery.

Additional exhibition premieres are:  Popular 19th century painter Carl Larsson (13/6) at The Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts, Making Peace (15/6)  at Nobelmuseet, The Warrior Queen and the Bronze Age of China (25/6) at Östasiatiska, Motohiko Odanis photos (13/6) at Fotografiska, One Two Tree about the popularity of wood (14/6) at Artipelag, Absolut Sin (6/6) at Spritmuseum

Concerts in June: Kiss (1), White snake (5), Rod Stewart (15), Dan Reed (24), Matt Corby (25), Mobb Deep (30) and Sing a long at Skansen premiere (25).

Festivals: Dans Dakar (1), Summerburst electro festival (14-15), Stockholm Early Music Festival (4-9), Hultsfred music festival (13-15), Taste of Stockholm food festival (5-9).

Sporting events: ASICS Stockholm Marathon (1), Nationaldagsgaloppen horse race (6), ÅF Off Shore Race (27-3/7) and Stockholm Royal Park Aquathlon (30).
