Vasastan: Upcoming district for vintage and contemporary art

People who are looking for small antique stores and intimate independent boutiques or want to drink and dine in a district with the locals, should make a beeline for Vasastan. This area is also a find if you are looking for original art. A hidden gem.

Start at Rörstrandsgatan making your way via Odengatan to Roslagsgatan. There are the three strips:

• Rörstrandsgatan area
  Rörstrandsggatan and surrounding side streets is where you'll find a small local district with independent shops, restaurants, bars and cafees.
    
• Odengatan - Odenplan 
  Starting on St Eriksplan walking Odengatan to Odenplan and the surrounding Norrtullsgatan and Upplandsgatan is a must if you like second hand shops and vintage interior design. Don't miss the new Sven-Harrys art gallery in Vasaparken or the legendary Ritorno Cafe.
  
• Odenplan - Roslagsgatan
  This part of Odengatan, including side streets, is packed with shopping, cafees and restaurant for the locals. Walk passed Asplund's famous Stockholm City Library all the way to Roslagsgatan and surrounding streets. Roslagsgatan is known for its vintage interior design shops and restaurant.

Vasastan: First Friday Hopping  - for lovers of modern art

For lovers of modern art, there is a lot more to discover in the city beyond Moderna Museet. On the first Friday of every month, two free arts & culture buses run between local galleries and arts & culture businesses in the area surrounding Vasastan, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.

The buses depart from Ebbas Värld, Tomtebogatan 17, and Linnegalleriet, Roslagsgatan 32. February 1, March 1, April 5 If you are eager to see more art, there are four privately owned galleries: Bonniers konsthall, Magasin 3, Färgfabriken, and Sven-Harrys.

There are modern art galleries all over Stockholm, but most of them are located in the Vasastan district.
