Press release -

Stockholm increases the number of international guest nights

The international guest night statistics for Stockholm have risen again. March saw an 11% rise in the number of foreign visitors compared with the same month last year. This positive trend is also reflected in the figures for the first quarter of 2016 as a whole.

The guest night figures for international visitors to Stockholm during the first quarter of 2016 show a full 12% increase. Two important events for this year’s quarterly report were Stockholm Fashion Week and the parallel slalom event at the Alpine Skiing World Cup in Hammarbybacken, both of which took place in February.

“I’m delighted that more international visitors are coming here, even in a low season month like March,” says Stockholm’s Finance Commissioner Karin Wanngård. “We’re focusing on marketing Stockholm internationally all year round to enhance our attractiveness, and this is producing results.”

Germany, Finland, Denmark and Spain are the countries among the top 10 markets with the highest percentage growth.
