Discovery announced that David Beckham will be addressing the Discovery Leadership Summit to be held in Sandton, Johannesburg on 14 November 2016. The Summit is a flagship, global thought-leadership event that enables the sharing of intellectual capital to contribute to leadership in business, government and civil society.
One of the world’s most celebrated and recognised sportsmen, Beckham played football professionally for more than 20 years, most notably for Manchester United and as captain of the England national team. Beckham has since evolved into a successful entrepreneur, working strategically and creatively with many of the world’s top companies. Beckham is also a long-standing UNICEF ambassador, with “7: The David Beckham UNICEF Fund” representing his personal commitment over the next decade to helping the world’s most vulnerable children.
“I'm pleased to be attending the Discovery Leadership Summit,” said Beckham. “It’s always great returning to South Africa where I have always felt the warmth and passionate spirit of its people.”
This year, the Discovery Leadership Summit’s theme is Inspiring Minds. While the final list of speakers, including local visionaries, will only be announced closer to the event, attendees can already look forward to hearing from other leading global thinkers, including Jack Welch, former GE CEO; Arianna Huffington, Founder of the Huffington Post; Niall Ferguson, Harvard historian and economist; Simon Kuper, Financial Times columnist and author; and Adrian Gore, Discovery’s Founder and CEO.
The Discovery Leadership Summit will take place on 14 November 2016 at the Sandton Convention Centre. The one-day event includes international speakers and panel discussions, and will run from 08:30 to 17:00. More information is available at www.discoveryleadershipsummit2016.co.za.
