Zaluvida serves North America’s first Climate-Smart beef in California

Sacramento 5 October 2017 - Zaluvida, the pioneering Swiss-based life science group, presented this week its natural technology Mootral, which reduces greenhouse gas emissions from cows by at least 30%.

As a sponsor of the annual International Food Blogger Conference (IFBC) in Sacramento from 28 September to 1 October, Zaluvida, in collaboration with University of California Davis, welcomed bloggers to a tour of the UC Davis beef feedlot. It also hosted a three-course dinner at the campus’ Gateway Gardens featuring the world’s first Climate-Smart beef – dry-aged, smoked prime rib – raised, processed and prepared at UC Davis.

Over the weekend, Zaluvida showcased the Mootral technology at the exhibitor hall in the Sacramento Convention Center, concluding with an informational session showing how cows using the Mootral feed supplement can make a positive contribution towards the environment. Mootral significantly and immediately reduces methane emissions, so that consumers can still enjoy their regular consumption of beef and dairy produce, while contributing to the fight against climate change.

Mootral is an innovative, patented feed supplement, comprised of natural ingredients extracted from fruit and vegetables, and is able to instantly reduce the methane emissions emanating from cows stomachs by at least 30%. This enables farmers to not only make another big contribution to stop climate change but also allows consumers to choose climate-smart beef and dairy from cows that produce less methane. Participants at the conference were invited to sample the first Climate-Smart beef produced in the U.S. and visit a cattle herd that is being fed with Mootral.
