Gloria Hotel’s Chef Samantha Kumara scoops 4 awards at Gulf Food
Proudly presenting Gloria Hotel Chef Samantha has stunned the judges at the Emirates Culinary Guild International Salon Culinaire at Gulf Food exhibition last week. Participating in a competition with talented Chefs from across GCC to award the best kitchen artist, Chef Samantha has been recognized as the best kitchen artist in the Individualized vegetable carving category.
His skills have been awarded in all four art categories he took part in. Leaving the competition with a gold medal in Individual live vegetable carving, silver medal in Chocolate carving, bronze medal in Individualized ice carving and silver in Open show piece, Chef Samantha was more than happy after the competition. ‘Burj Al Arab’s Chefs were my toughest competitors’, he mentioned. He also added that ‘Working with ice is not easy as it melts very quickly and carving the hard structure with hand tools is a challenge even for the well-skilled artist’.
Chef Samantha Kumara has an extensive career in the hospitality industry spending the last 13 years in UAE. Having started his UAE experience back in 2003 in Abu Dhabi he has recently joined Gloria Hotel in January 2015 as a Chief Kitchen Artist.
