Agama Launches New Sustainability Analytics Initiative

LINKÖPING, Sweden – September 8, 2022 – Agama Technologies (Agama), leading provider of powerful real-time video observability and analytics solutions, today announces a sustainability analytics initiative, supporting video providers to understand, analyze and reduce their environmental impact.

Sustainability is becoming one of the most prioritized issues for the video industry. Improvements across the delivery chain in terms of carbon and energy footprint will be needed. At the same time, the lack of foundational data and insights make it difficult to align stakeholders and track progress.

Agama’s new initiative is designed for video operators who want to work in a data-driven way to help them make informed decisions on their journey towards lowering the environmental footprint. By analyzing fine-grained usage metrics per service, device, or apps, and presenting trends and breakdowns of the energy use over time, it will simplify both the understanding of the current environmental impact as well as support the analysis of how different decisions will affect it.

Answering questions such as ‘what is the actual energy consumption of a specific video service over time given changes in user behavior?’ or ‘what would the total energy impact be if we changed to a lower bitrate using a more advanced codec?’ would allow video providers to take concrete steps to work towards sustainability. Based on the tight connection to either an Agama video observability solution or other data sources, detailed information and powerful analytics are available to answer such questions.

“Given the importance of understanding one’s environmental impact, and Agama’s continuous drive to ensure video providers have the vital insights easily available, we are joining the sustainability movement by launching a new way for companies to analyze their environmental footprint and take necessary actions to reduce it”, says Mikael Dahlgren, CEO of Agama Technologies. “We celebrate this initiative by also introducing a fresh and modern graphic profile. Come and have a look at our new style at our stand at IBC, located in hall 1.C65”, Mikael adds.

We look forward to working with customers and partners across the video ecosystem in the coming months in providing solutions to help video and streaming become more sustainable.
