ENGINEERING CHANGE: CIRCULAR TEE MIT CIRCULARITY.ID®

While the global fashion industry has built a highly effective global supply chain capable of designing, sourcing, manufacturing and shipping garments to the end consumer in a matter of weeks, it has yet to develop a reverse supply chain of the same scale to deal with the growing volume of unwanted clothing. ARMEDANGELS wants to change that and is leading the way with the Closed Loop Pilot and circularity.ID®: With the help of the ID and intelligent sorting workstations, garment-sorters have the ability to accurately identify the material composition, value and condition of garments. The pieces can thus be quickly and accurately put into the right cycle.

The pilot project was initiated by circular.fashion and FairWertung together with ARMEDANGELS and other fashion brands as well as non-profit textile collectors/sorters. The pilot gives the initiators the opportunity to test a closed-loop system for textiles under real conditions. As part of the project, different circular textile products will be launched on the market, all equipped with the so-called circularity.ID®. The circularity.ID® makes intelligent sorting via charitable take-back channels possible and thus aims to put circular models into practice.

"The fashion industry lacks scalable solutions to deal with the growing mountains of unwanted clothing. That's exactly what we're going to test with circularity.ID®. We call that responsible innovation." -Lavinia Muth, Corporate Responsibility

A small chip for a shirt, a big step for circular fashion: AADO & TARAA CIRCULAR LOGO are the first products with a circularity.ID®. With the help of the NFC-Tag, ARMEDANGELS and its partners are testing intelligent sorting systems for used-textile-sorting, resale and high-quality recycling in a real-life setting. Consumers can also scan the tag with their smartphone, access information about production and material composition and can easily return the product to the cycle at the end of its life through the ARMEDANGELS take-back system. Goal of the Closed Loop Pilot is the effective application of a circular system to the fashion industry on a larger scale - for greater scaling of circular solutions in fashion. The project was launched in June 2021 with a joint kick-off workshop and will run until the end of 2022.

ABOUT ARMEDANGELS

Since 2007 the Cologne label ARMEDANGELS has been proving that fashion can also be done differently: ECO & FAIR. No wage slavery, no chemical madness, no cheap mass goods. From the simple idea of printing on T-shirts and collecting donations for charity projects through sales, a company has grown that today is one of the largest ECO & FAIR fashion labels in Europe. With a 90-person team and four collections a year, ARMEDANGELS shows that sustainability and good product design are not mutually exclusive.
