Press release -
“Verantwortung Tragen” - A social fashion initiative that looks good on everyone.
This year, the newly founded initiative "Verantwortung Tragen" by the Berlin creative agency DOJO supports Sea-Watch e.V. in the rescue of refugees at sea with a social donation campaign in the form of an accompanying collection. Support comes from the friendly labels ARMEDANGELS, DRYKORN, MVSCHI KREUZBERG as well as designer MARINA HOERMANSEDER, the renowned photographer Felix Krüger and celebrities like Lena Meyer-Landrut, Palina Rojinksi, Caro Daur, Kida Khodr Ramadan and many others.
We live in a world in which brands create identities, striking lettering arouses desires and conveys exclusivity and luxury. But we also live in a world in which millions of people have to flee because of war, conflict, and persecution. On this occasion, DOJO has founded the initiative "Verantwortung Tragen", under whose patronage a renowned designer and several brands ensure that the fashion world is not only about what everyone wants and no one necessarily needs - but also about what many really need: solidarity.
This year, the initiative supports the civilian sea rescue of refugees at the world's deadliest border with a collection. Because no human being should have to drown, while fleeing from war, persecution, and poverty, in the hope of a dignified life. All profits from the initiative are donated to the sea rescue organization Sea-Watch e.V.
In order to bring the issue to the attention of younger people and to draw attention to this humanitarian crisis, the initiative is working with more than 20 celebrities from a wide range of backgrounds.
On the microsite Verantwortungtragen.org, which will be online from July 29, 2020, refugees talk about the experiences of their past, but also about their future, dreams, and goals. In addition, celebrities share the hard facts about sea rescue and draw attention to the charity collection through social media. The list of supporters is diverse: With, among others, Lena Meyer-Landrut, Stefanie Giesinger, Marcus Butler, CÈLINE, Kida Khodr Ramadan, Melina Sophie, Hikmet Sugoer, Jan Köppen, Lisa-Marie Koroll, Jennifer Weist, Visa Vie, Caro Daur and Palina Rojinski, numerous celebrities from various fields support the campaign with stance, heart and reach. The fashion pieces staged by photographer Felix Krüger are statements on the topics of war, flight across the Mediterranean, and human rights and convey a simple but direct message: fashion trends come and go - but solidarity is always in fashion.
"13 years ago we started with t-shirts, not necessarily to make fashion, but to make a statement and change something - for the planet and for the people who live on it. That's why we are especially proud to be able to support Sea-Watch and set a sign. A sign for human rights. The death of people in the Mediterranean Sea must come to an end. Our T-shirt shows our solidarity with refugees and calls for the long overdue opening of the borders."
