Innovative solutions for the factory of the future
At EMO 2025, Fill Machine Engineering scored points with innovations and maximum customer focus for the automotive and aviation industries.
The world's leading trade fair for production technology, EMO, which took place from September 22 to 26, 2025, was the place to be for the international metalworking community. In line with the megatrends of automation, sustainability, digitalization, and artificial intelligence, the Austrian machine engineering company Fill impressed visitors in Hanover with groundbreaking solutions and technologies for the automotive and aerospace industries.
The latest generation of SYNCROMILL D - specially designed for giga and megacast components - combines high-tech and specific customer requirements in an innovative complete solution. In combination with the digital FILL CYBERNETICS applications, the machining center impresses with even greater flexibility, efficiency, precision, and cost-effectiveness.
With high-tech systems for machining composite components - from fibers to tested components to assembled aircraft structures - Fill aroused great interest among the specialist audience from the aviation sector.
Hanover/Gurten, September 29, 2025 – The transformation of mobility is in full swing. Changing customer behavior and stricter regulations are the main drivers for the development of innovative technologies. In this dynamic environment, solutions are needed that increase efficiency and quality in the manufacturing process. “Over the past decades, we have built up enormous process expertise and continuously invested in research and development, enabling us to offer our customers a unique complete package – from foundry technology and metalworking to assembly technology. Digitalization and automation are essential components of our systems,” explains Friedrich Dallinger, Head of the Metal Machining Technology Competence Center at Fill.
Thanks to its many years of experience in special-purpose machine construction, Fill is a competent partner for the design and implementation of flexible turnkey complete systems. The Austrian machine engineering experts take on overall responsibility, solve the most complex requirements, and make their customers from the automotive and aviation industries the most successful companies in their sector.
Universal, space-saving, and efficient
The SYNCROMILL D Gen.3 machining center was specially designed for giga and megacast components. It combines high-tech and individual customer requirements in an innovative complete solution. Compared to its predecessor, the SYNCROMILL D Gen.3 offers a number of advantages: The machining area has been increased by 60%, while the machine's footprint has been reduced by 5%. The chip-to-chip time has been reduced by 30%. In addition, the Gen. 3 has more tool slots for larger and longer tools, offering greater flexibility. In addition to a newly developed drive for the A-axes, the chip situation has also been further optimized.
Accubot Trimming & Metrology
The use of customized NC robot applications improves the efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and flexibility of manufacturing processes - such as trimming, drilling, testing, and measuring structural parts made of lightweight materials.
High-precision NC-controlled robots enable flexible and efficient machining of composite components. In addition to contour machining and setting up the customizable clamping device, the production system also performs geometric measurement of structural components made of lightweight materials. The flexible ACCUBOT TRIMMING component processing system plays a central role in this process. The multimodal approach of the system concept allows various functional units for trimming, measuring, and setting up the fixture to be connected to the robot fully automatically using the FLEXCHANGE interchangeable coupling. The high flexibility of the robot cell is made possible by the FILL CYBERNETICS STUDIO software application. This is an intelligent, efficient, and intuitive software solution that can be used to map different processes on a production cell.
Digitization & Service
FILL CYBERNETICS products are an essential component of Fill's machines and systems. The digital applications for a wide range of production and system requirements store all relevant machine parameters from Fill systems. The condition and efficiency of the machines and processes for production, maintenance, and planning are continuously analyzed, which in turn leads to a continuous increase in the quality and efficiency of production. The FILL SERVICE PLATFORM offers a digital service for continuous support of workflow and productivity. All relevant information on Fill machines and systems can be accessed 24 hours a day.
Conclusion: A great trade fair
After five days at the fair with numerous exciting discussions and inspiring encounters, Friedrich Dallinger draws an extremely positive conclusion: "EMO 2025 was an excellent opportunity to present our latest innovations to an international audience of experts - from SYNCROMILL D Gen.3 and digital solutions with CYBERNETICS to high-tech applications in the aerospace sector such as ACCUBOT TRIMMING & METROLOGY. A huge thank you goes to our fantastic trade fair team for their great work on site. Together, we look to the future with great motivation and confidence!"
