Most Sought-After Auction Items of 2025!

Europe’s Leading Auction Marketplace Reveals 2025’s Most Sought-After Items.

When Europe’s top auction platform lists the most sought-after items of 2025, the results reveal a surprisingly diverse top ten. Dolls take the top spot, closely followed by spoons, a classic collecting category. Austrian designer Josef Frank remains the most popular designer by far, while Omega, Lalique, and Georg Jensen emerge as the most coveted brands.

The rankings are based on search behavior from Auctionet’s UK customers over the past year. Below are the 20 most searched terms, accompanied by commentary from Auctionet specialist Kayleigh Davies.

Kayleigh Davies: "Britain is a nation of collectors, and that’s clearly reflected in this list. While we love beautiful furniture and decorative pieces for our homes, it’s often our hobbies that lead us to browse auctions looking for that one special item. I’m not surprised to see spoons ranking so highly, as silver collectors have long taken them seriously as a category. Dolls taking the top spot, however, would have been unthinkable just a few years ago. This reflects a wider shift in retail, with 2025 seeing much talk about the rise of the ‘kidult,’ adults spending serious money on nostalgia driven purchases"

Most Sought-After Brands

  1. Omega (8)

  2. Lalique (15)

  3. Georg Jensen (17)

  4. Rolex (25)

  5. Svenskt Tenn (26)

Kayleigh Davies: "The brands in this list have one thing in common: decades of reputation for being the best in quality and design. Watches continue to be an extremely popular collecting category, with Rolex and Omega remaining obvious and trusted choices. It’s encouraging to see the Swedish design company Svenkst Tenn gain more recognition here and take its place culturally alongside a name like Lalique"

Most Sought-After Artists and Designers

Kayleigh Davies: "Names like Josef Frank and Lisa Larson appearing in our most sought-after artists and designers show that interest in Scandinavian design continues to be strong for UK buyers. At the same time, the list also shows a real mix in styles, from Helmut Newton to Pablo Picasso. Combined with the high level of interest in watercolours and oil paintings, this suggests that bidders are confident in buying what they genuinely like instead of just following current trends."

Swedish vs. British Collecting Trends
According to Andreas Siesing, Auctionet Specialist in Sweden, there is a clear difference between UK and Swedish buyers:

"In Sweden, searches are mainly focused on interior items, with chairs, tables, armchairs, and sofas dominating the lists. Swedish and Danish designers are highly valued—Josef Frank and Svenskt Tenn stand out above all. The firm, recently celebrating 100 years, is as popular as ever. In contrast, our UK customers search far more for art—watercolours, oil paintings, portraits, and still lifes are in much higher demand than in Sweden. This makes the UK figures especially fascinating to read."
