Axiell Media launches audiobook app Biblio for libraries

Stockholm October 2nd 2017 – Axiell Media today launches an audio book app for Swedish libraries. The app is called Biblio and makes it easy for patrons with a valid library card to listen to the audiobooks from the local library. The app broadens the ability for libraries to offer a relevant and improved service for all the target groups the library serves. Today there are about 8000 audio books in Axiell Media’s platform, which are accessible with Biblio. Axiell Media partners with more than 670 publishers in Scandinavia and has more than 40 000 titles for distribution in the platform.

In the app, the patron can search, explore, loan and listen to audio books, both on and offline. The app is developed to be easy to use and only requires the user to know their library card number and pin to be able to get access to their local library’s audiobook selection. The library manages the collection through Axiell Media’s platform in accordance with the Swedish e-book model.

The app is developed for iOS as well as Android devices and can be downloaded in Appstore and Google Play.

”With Biblio, we are improving the service that Swedish libraries can offer their patrons when they want to listen to audiobooks. We are glad to be able to say that the initial feedback is that it is a user friendly layout and contains functionality, which we know has been requested by the patrons, such as listening off-line. In Sweden, the interest for audiobooks is on the rise and the app is developed to meet that demand. For Axiell Media, this product launch solidifies our position as one of the biggest distributors of e- and audio- books in the Nordic region,” says Eva Houltzén CEO at Axiell Media.

As a part of the development process, 20 librarians have been part of a beta test team and have provided valuable feedback in order to ensure the app contains the appropriate functionality at the time of launch.

”I am happy to have been a beta tester and I find the app very appealing and easy to use. It will certainly benefit the accessibility to audiobooks in Sweden” says Anna Eriksson, Bibliotek Värmland.
