BACHMANN develops AERA for design-led work and hospitality spaces
Developed in collaboration with designer Graig Jones of Jones & Partners, AERA integrates light, power and ambience into furniture
Stuttgart, 26 October 2026 – Work, learning and hospitality spaces are no longer purely functional environments. Alongside reliable access to power, design, lighting and ambience play an important role in shaping the quality of a space. With AERA, BACHMANN brings these requirements together in a furniture-integrated solution that combines lighting and power supply as part of the overall design.
Developed with designer Graig Jones
AERA was developed in collaboration with designer Graig Jones of Jones & Partners. The development focused on how lighting and power supply can be integrated into furniture in a way that preserves their technical functionality while introducing a distinctive design element to the surrounding space.
Its reduced design language allows AERA to be incorporated as an integral part of the furniture. In this way, the product combines access to power with an additional design element for a variety of spatial concepts and applications.
Light creates atmosphere
A key element of AERA is its integrated ambient lighting. The diffuse, downward-facing light illuminates the immediate area while contributing to the atmosphere of the surrounding space. Brightness can be adjusted via a touch button on the slimline lamp head. The lamp head can also be rotated by 90 degrees, allowing the light to be positioned according to the intended use.
With AERA, light therefore performs a dual function: it supports the use of the space while also becoming part of the interior design.
Power integrated into the design
AERA's power supply is integrated directly into its base. Schuko sockets can be used to power devices such as laptops, while 45-watt USB-C/C chargers provide charging capability for smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices. Depending on the configuration, AERA is available with either two sockets and two USB-C/C chargers, or one of each.
This means that the technical infrastructure is not treated as an addition to the furniture but is incorporated into its design from the outset.
Bringing ambience, design and functionality together
“With AERA, we deliberately considered light and power together from the very beginning. The integrated lighting therefore serves more than a purely functional purpose. It also helps create a pleasant atmosphere around the individual space. Together with Graig Jones, we have developed a solution in which design, light and power supply interact naturally with the furniture,” says Finn Hennig, Product Manager at BACHMANN.
For offices, libraries, hotels and lounges
AERA is designed for a variety of work and hospitality environments, including offices, libraries, hotels and lounges. Combining lighting and power supply makes it possible to create spaces for focused work and learning as well as areas for short stays and informal interaction.
With AERA, BACHMANN adds a product to its furniture integration portfolio in which electrification, lighting and design are considered together from the outset.
