BACHMANN introduces PIX UP: The flattest built-in socket for new freedom in kitchen and furniture design

With PIX UP, BACHMANN expands its portfolio with an innovation designed to solve one of the most common challenges in modern furniture and kitchen design: the lack of installation space for integrated power solutions. With an installation depth of just 19 mm, PIX UP is one of the flattest built-in sockets in the furniture industry, opening up new possibilities for planners, manufacturers, and interior designers.

When modern furniture design meets technical limitations

The demands placed on furniture, kitchens, and workspaces are constantly evolving. Slim worktops, elegant side panels, minimalist constructions, and clean design aesthetics are shaping today’s interior concepts. At the same time, users increasingly expect convenient access to power wherever it is needed.

For furniture and kitchen manufacturers, this often creates a challenge: power outlets need to be integrated, yet the available installation space is frequently insufficient for conventional socket solutions. Especially in slim side panels, kitchen islands, back panels, or installations with drawers and runners behind them, installation depth quickly becomes a limiting factor. The result is often planning conflicts, design compromises, and additional engineering effort.

PIX UP: Designed for the tightest installation spaces

With PIX UP, BACHMANN has developed a built-in socket specifically engineered to overcome these challenges. At the core of the solution is a newly developed 90° rotation mechanism. A simple twist raises the socket unit from the surface for use. Once no longer needed, it retracts almost flush into the furniture surface.

The key innovation lies in its exceptionally low installation depth of only 19 mm. This makes PIX UP one of the flattest socket units available in the furniture industry and enables installation in applications where practical solutions were previously unavailable. At the same time, installation is carried out via a standard 80 mm cut-out, making integration into existing manufacturing processes straightforward and efficient

More design freedom for kitchens and furniture

For kitchen planners and furniture manufacturers, this translates into one major benefit: greater design flexibility.

Whether used in kitchen islands, slim worktops, side panels, kitchen back panels, modern office furniture, or room-in-room concepts, PIX UP enables power integration in areas where space has traditionally been too limited. In addition, its shallow installation depth significantly reduces the risk of interference with drawers, runners, or other structural components.

With PIX UP, BACHMANN is not only expanding its product portfolio, but also providing a solution that simplifies planning processes while creating entirely new opportunities for furniture and interior design

Award-winning design meets intelligent engineering

Alongside technical innovation, special attention was paid to seamless integration into furniture and architectural environments. When closed, PIX UP remains discreetly in the background, supporting a clean and sophisticated appearance.

The combination of functionality, ease of use, and minimalist design has been recognized with the German Design Award 2026, highlighting the product’s innovative approach to power integration.

„With PIX UP, we didn’t want to develop just another power socket. Our goal was to give furniture and kitchen planners greater freedom when integrating power into their designs. The result is a solution that can be used where conventional products reach their structural limits, without compromising on design or functionality. Receiving the German Design Award confirms our commitment to combining technical innovation and outstanding design in a meaningful way.“, so Daniel Stuckert, Head of Global Marketing & Product Management at Bachmann.
