Credit cards are the safest payment tool against fraud

In 2019, European card users were defrauded of over 1.50 billion Euro[i]. At the same time, it is estimated that 62 percent of Germans will use a credit card by 2025[ii].

- If your card details go astray, there is a risk of your card being misused. Most banks have security systems in place to prevent fraud and monitor credit card transactions around the clock. If we discover suspicious transactions, we will contact you immediately, says Håkon Hovde, Head of Fraud and Disputes at Bank Norwegian.

The transactions Bank Norwegian receives the most complaints about are unknown transactions. These are usually charges that you as a customer do not recognize when you look through your invoice.

Goods or services that have not been received come in second. If you have ordered something online and not received the product, in many cases, you can complain to the bank and get help getting the money back.

The same applies in cases where you are defrauded or if there is something wrong with the product you have bought.

Bank Norwegian helps you with complaints, bankruptcy or fraud

Have you bought a pair of shoes online and never received them, or discovered that the product you purchased has significant faults or defects?

Use the Bank Norwegian card to make secure payments. In many cases, the bank can then help you in a complaint case if you meet resistance from the seller who sold you the product.

- If, for example, you bought blue trousers, but the seller sent you red trousers, it is your right to have the seller correct the mistake. If it doesn't work out, you can complain to the bank, says Hovde.

Three tips for safe online shopping

  1. Pay by credit card when shopping.
  2. If the price is too good to be true, it often is.
  3. Do a search on Google and see what other people think about the online store.
