Christmas season is high season for fraud attempts. We therefore encourage our customers to be observant.
We see an increase in fraud attempts around Christmas time. A widespread phenomenon, which has multiplied in Norway since 2020, is fraud attempts through social engineering. What victims of social engineering have in common is that they have been tricked into providing sensitive information, often via telephone or e-mail.
- It can happen to all of us, and fraudsters are becoming more clever and resourceful.
- They are well-articulated, credible and speak fluent [local language].
- They can pretend to be from your bank or from the police.
- Do not give out sensitive information by e-mail or phone - no matter who contacts you!
Even though Bank Norwegian has solid systems and routines to detect fraud attempts, it is you, the customer, who has the most important task:
Protect your personal data or passwords. They are yours and should not be shared with anyone.
If you suspect that your personal information or card information has gone astray, you must contact Bank Norwegian’s customer service immediately.
