Redguard Sensor Cable with Expanded Temperature Range and Reduced Response Time

Sensor technology for demanding tasks

Overheating, fires and leaks can cause major damage. The earlier the hazard can be detected and located, the lower the damage to humans and the environment, especially in hazardous areas and plants. The temperature monitoring system RedGuard offers a fast and accurate solution.

The integrated sensor and monitoring system consists of a sensor cable with up to 250 sensors integrated in defined intervals as well as an evaluation unit. For communication with master control systems, universal interfaces are available.

Localize temperature events quickly and more accurately

Due to the hazards that are felt always by a temperature rise or fall, the temperature monitoring system with its sensor intervals (2, 4, 7, 10 or 20 m) is particularly well suited for temperature monitoring on longer routes (tunnels , pipes, ducts). The system monitors up to four temperature limits (min./max., temperatures and temperature gradients). When predetermined thresholds are exceeded, the system generates an alarm.

Explosion-proof design

The temperature monitoring system is tested according to ATEX Directive 94/9/EC. The specially configured temperature control unit CTU-2 corresponds to category II 2G or 2D II and is installed directly in hazardous areas (zone 1 and 21, 2 and 22). It consists of the connection filter module (CFM-2), the sensor cable (SD-2 or HD-2) itself and the termination module (CTM-2). The stand-alone signal processor unit (SSP) is located outside the hazardous area and is equipped with a power and surge protection.

Extended temperature measurement in hazardous area

Depending on the material of the outer shell two versions of the sensor cable are available. With the outer sheath of polyurethane (SD-2), a measurement or operating temperature range from -40° C to 85° C is available. In the new version with the outer jacket of fluoropolymer the working range was extended from-55° C to 105° C.

The advantages of the new sensor line at a glance:

  • Extended temperature range in hazardous areas from -55° C to 105° C
  • Increased response (tested according to EN 54-5, meets all response classes)
  • Mechanical stable up to 140 ° C in Ex area
  • Increased chemical resistance
