World Health Day 2026: Blue AB spotlights Bluewater’s impact on global health and growth.
Stockholm, Sweden, April 7, 2026 – On World Health Day 2026, Blue AB spotlights Bluewater, a leading innovator of cleaner drinking water solutions for home, work, and play from Europe to Africa, North America to Asia.
Despite advances in global health, water quality remains threatened. Contaminants such as PFAS, industrial chemicals, and hormone disruptors are increasingly being found in drinking water, and according to the chemsec.org website, 99 percent of all humans today have “PFAS chemicals in their blood”. In the United States alone, about 176 million people drink tap water contaminated by toxic ‘forever chemicals’ according to test data cited by the Washington-based Environment Lobbying Group, EWG.
Since launching in 2013, Bluewater has focused on turning innovation into scalable solutions for consumers and businesses alike. Its proprietary SuperiorOsmosis™ technology removes up to 99.8 percent of contaminants, consumes less energy, and generates less wastewater than conventional reverse osmosis. The patented LiquidRock® solution restores essential minerals lost during the gold standard reverse osmosis purification process, providing water that is both clean and balanced.
“Access to clean water is a basic human right and should never be in question,” said Bengt Rittri, an internationally acclaimed Swedish ecopreneur who founded Blue AB after the sale of his air purification company Blueair to Unilever in 1996 after growing it into a successful international brand. “Our mission is to make advanced water purification and organic sustainable beverages part of everyday life, improving people’s health, performance, and quality of life around the world.”
Bluewater’s water purification and beverage solutions are sold across Europe, Africa, North America, and Asia, serving homes, offices, hospitality venues, sports arenas, and wellness facilities. The company’s cutting-edge technology, global reach, and growing adoption position it as a key driver of both social impact and commercial success within the Blue AB portfolio.
For Blue AB, Bluewater underscores how portfolio companies can achieve sustainable growth by targeting emerging drinking water trends when it comes to health, wellness, and ecological accountability.
Mr. Rittri notes that according to a 2025 WQA Consumer Insights Report, 58% of American households expressed concern about the safety of their tap water.
“As water quality becomes more questioned by health-conscious consumers and demand for clean, mineralized water increases, Bluewater is clearly in the right place at the right time to capture market opportunities and support Blue AB’s long-term value creation”, Rittri said.
