UN call for greater cooperation on tackling air pollution and unhealthy lifestyles in Europe welcomed by Blueair

Stockholm, Sweden, June 9, 2016 — Blueair, the number one international air purifier brand, today praised the United Nations for its call for greater cooperation and a more integrated approach to tackling air pollution and unhealthy lifestyles in Europe. According to the new report by the UN environment agency and the UN economic commission in Europe, air pollution, climate change, unhealthy lifestyles and disconnection between people and the environment are increasingly affecting human health in the pan-European region.
“Blueair strives to help improve the way people live their lives with indoor air cleaning technologies and products designed to help them create safe indoor havens at home and work,” said Bengt Rittri, CEO of Blueair, the company he founded twenty years ago to make the best air purifiers in the world. Today, Blueair has won recognition as a global leader in innovating highly efficient and well designed and engineered indoor air purifiers such as its Blue range to deliver people enhanced health and wellbeing by capturing multiple indoor airborne pollution ranging from smoke particles to chemicals, allergens and viruses.
The latest UN report noted how the air pollution challenge is the greatest threat to human wellbeing with more than 95 per cent of the EU urban population exposed to levels above World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines. Over 500,000 premature deaths in the region were attributed to outdoor air quality and 100,000 to indoor air quality in 2012, according to UN estimates.
“Air pollution is an accelerator for other risks to human health, and has been demonstrated to contribute to rising rates of asthma, dementia, obesity and many more illnesses. The new UN report is praiseworthy for the way it highlights the need across Europe for greater awareness and cooperation to tackle the airborne contamination threat,” said Mr. Rittri.
