BoKlok employees awarded scholarship

All employees within the Skanska Group have the opportunity to be awarded scholarship for professional studies. Once again, we are proud to share that BoKlok employees have been awarded with scholarships.

Within the Skanska Group there is a foundation called Agne Sandberg Foundation with the purpose to promote studies that develop employees’ professional skills. The scholarship is awarded every other year, and two years ago BoKlok employees were awarded for the first time. Among the happy scholarship holders this time, we again find BoKlok employees: Håvard Olav Hansen, Financial Manager, BoKlok Norway and from BoKlok housing factory in Gullringen, Sweden: Jonas Davidsson, Digitisation Leader and John Wärnelius, Construction Supervisor.

- Seeing our employees developing via for example studies, is something we actively encourage, as this is an important part of the continuous development of BoKlok as a company. Therefore, it makes me happy to welcome even more holders of the Agne Sandberg scholarship among our employees, says Aija Harju, Senior Vice President Human Resources, BoKlok.

All three recipients agree that the award is a strong motivator for self-development. They believe there are many advantages to study while you are working.

Håvard Olav Hansen who is doing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Technology Management, explains that with the help of his studies he aims to grasp more of his colleagues’ fields of work:

- The background for my present studies, is that when I have been in discussions about IT systems and digital solutions, I have felt I needed more understanding and decided to take some courses within technology. Soon I will be starting up a thesis within my MBA and I am hoping this can be in collaboration with BoKlok, says Håvard Olav Hansen.

Studies within LEAN Production at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, is what lies behind Jonas Davidsson and John Wärnelius being awarded the scholarship. In short, LEAN Production is a method to maximise the production and product quality, which is beneficial to the continuous development of BoKlok housing factory in Gullringen, Sweden.

Jonas Davidsson completed his studies during spring and is grateful for having been given the opportunity to grow:

    - I have been able to perform my studies alongside my work, which I am very thankful for. It proves that BoKlok is an employer who furthers the development of the employees. I implement the tools from my studies in my daily work, which is valuable to our production, and I will continue with further studies to promote our digitalisation journey, says Jonas Davidsson.

Currently, John Wärnelius is undertaking the LEAN Production studies and he is awarded for actively seeking new fields of knowledge for both leadership development and personal growth. To him, the scholarship gives an extra motivation:

      - Receiving the Agne Sandberg scholarship is inspiring and gratifying. It is also a strong push forward to keep developing, concludes John Wärnelius.

The Agne Sandberg Foundation was founded in 1953 in honour of the late Agne Sandberg, former CEO of Skanska. The foundation's purpose is to provide scholarships within Skanska intended to be used for studies to develop professional skills.
