Press release -

BookBeat launches in Norway

Today, BookBeat launches in Norway. During the fall, negotiations have been ongoing with the major local publishers and the service has been translated into Norwegian. Agreements are signed with Cappelen Damm, Gyldendal, Vigmostad & Bjørke, Strawberry and HarperCollins Norway, which all will distribute their titles to the service. In a short time, the users will be offered a catalogue with more than 500 000 audio- and e-books.

Finally! We’ve had the ambition to launch in Norway for a long time, and our data indicate that there is potential to reach even more Norwegian listeners. We will do so by offering a fantastic user experience, we'll take leadership in presenting the best books from the best authors and publishers' and introducing more flexibility in the customer offerings to make more people listeners. Our goal is to reach at least 100 000 Norwegian users in the longer term, says Niclas Sandin, CEO at BookBeat.

Norway is BookBeat’s eighth core market, meaning that the service is localized and translated. BookBeat has in only five years grown into close to 600 000 users paying for the service each month, since the broad launch in Sweden 2016. To achieve growth in Norway, the first Norwegian team members were recruited during the fall. The team will be based in both Oslo and Stockholm.

- We’re the streaming service that receives the highest average grading from the users in all our core markets, and we have the same ambition for Norway. The Norwegian team, together with the 130 stars at the Stockholm office will contribute to that, but mainly it’s about offering the best books in the service, which we’re able to do now thanks to all the agreements we’ve signed with leading publishers, says William Jakoby, Head of Expansion at BookBeat.

- When launching the service today, we give the Norwegian listeners a preview of BookBeat. During the upcoming months, the users will notice a drastic increase in content in the service. We look forward to showing why we’re the best service, both for the users, the authors and all the publishers working with us, says Jakoby.
