    Children of the Danish Golden Age and French Gilt Bronzes

    This week, Bruun Rasmussen will hold the year's first Live Auction in Copenhagen. The first week of auctions includes a portrait by the Danish Golden Age painter C.A. Jensen, which depicts three children from one of the influential families of the time, as well as gilt bronzes from the 18th-19th century France.

    What do Tutankhamun's grave and the animal kingdom have to do with Danish design? During the 1940s and 1950s, the Danish architects found inspiration for their designs in many different places, such as historical furniture designs, religious stories and nature. At Bruun Rasmussen's first Live Auction in Copenhagen this year, they can present the coveted designs by Finn Juhl and Hans J. Wegner.

    The World's Largest and Most Beautiful Work on Flora up for Auction

    The year's first Live Auction at Bruun Rasmussen in Copenhagen includes a copy of the Flora Danica work. It is extremely rare to see complete versions of this botanical work on the market. The project all began in 1761 with a plate depicting a cloudberry and a prospectus supported by the Danish King Frederik V. More than 120 years later, the magnificent Flora Danica was finally completed.

    Musical Design Treasure Sets New World Record

    Bruun Rasmussen’s 70th anniversary auction concluded on a high note as Danish design came under the hammer Thursday evening. A musical instrument garnered quite a lot of the attention during a bidding round where it was knocked down for several million Danish kroner.

    The saleroom was packed and the air full of bids at yesterday’s auction for artwork by international and Danish modern artists. While works by Gunther Förg and Willem de Kooning put up a good show, it was the Danish painter Harald Giersing who ran off with the top hammer price of DKK 3.1 million (EUR 540,000 including buyer’s premium).

    CoBrA at 70

    Bruun Rasmussen is not the only one turning 70 this year. The same goes for the CoBrA art group, which was founded in 1948 with the intent of creating a new and more liberated approach to art. Part of our anniversary auction is therefore dedicated to the art of CoBrA.

    At Bruun Rasmussen we are launching a completely new kind of auction called Direct Auction. The auction takes place online, and, as always, our experts will advise, valuate and describe the items up for auction. However, unlike the Live Auctions and Online Auctions, it will be the seller who takes the pictures of the items and sends them directly to the buyer.

Two top models from Rolex, a Daytona Cosmograph and a Dato-Compax Chronograph, will be up for auction together with an Omega Speedmaster "Ultraman" and 60 other ticking wonders.
