Support the Talented Artists of the Future

The talented artists of the future will be given the full spotlight when Bruun Rasmussen, in collaboration with the Copenhagen Photo Festival, swings the hammer over a selection of works from the censored exhibition at the photo festival.

Hopefully lightning will strike when Bruun Rasmussen, in collaboration with the Copenhagen Photo Festival, swings the hammer over a selection of works from the festival’s censored exhibition on 7 June at 7:30 pm at The Understation in Copenhagen.

Support the Talented Youth

At the auction you not only have the chance to purchase photo art from up-and-coming artists at very reasonable prices, you also get to directly support the talented artists. “We hope that a lot of people will come and contribute to a good atmosphere and hopefully also buy something elegant for the wall or art collection at home, so that we can put photo art and the new talent firmly on the map here in Denmark,” says Head of department of photography, Christine Almlund.

Making the Cut

Among more than 1800 submitted proposals, a number of works were selected by a jury consisting of Curator and Director of Gallery Image in Aarhus Beate Cegielska, photographer, video and visual artist Tina Enghoff, and art and cultural journalist Torben Sangild. The final selection that made the cut were created by talented young photographers from around the world and can be experienced throughout the festival period from 1 to 11 June at the old transformer station The Understation on Østerbro, Copenhagen.

In connection with the auction Bruun Rasmussen will launch a special photo blog, “The Fine Photograph”, where larger and smaller news items and experiences with photography will be shared. In connection with the festival, the blog will be updated with articles about the individual artists and the auction on 7 June.

You can already now view and bid on the works on bruun-rasmussen.dk. The auction ends with an exciting live event in the middle of the festival week, where we warm up with a DJ and drinks from 6:30 pm. The auction itself will begin at 7:30 pm.

Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers is one of Scandinavia’s leading international auction houses, and one of Denmark’s oldest. It all started on 6 October 1948, when Arne Bruun Rasmussen conducted the first traditional auction in the saleroom at Bredgade 33 in Copenhagen. Today, Jesper Bruun Rasmussen stands at the helm of the family-run business together with the third generation of the family, his son Frederik and daughter Alexa, and the company’s CEO Jakob Dupont.

In 2004, the first online auction was launched, and today the auction house has expanded to include departments in Copenhagen and Aarhus and representations in Sweden, Germany, France, Belgium, Luxemburg, Spain, Italy, Thailand and the US. About 100,000 lots are put up for auction each year at the traditional auctions and daily online auctions. Here you can bid on everything from art, antiques, modern design and jewellery to books, coins, stamps, wine and weaponry.
