BYON presents a design collaboration with swedish ceramicist Emma Widell
Byon now launches a design collaboration with artist and ceramicist Emma Widell from Malmö. The result is a collection that celebrates the colourful, the bold and the imperfect – three pots with strong personalities reflecting both Emma’s artistic language and BYON’s rebellious DNA.
Byon rarely engages in collaborations, but sometimes a person comes along who truly embodies what the brand stands for.
– Emma is what we call an outlaw in BYON’s universe. Someone who dares to walk her own path without hiding, a little bold but with her heart in the right place. This is also mirrored in the pots we have created together, says Beatrice Lindgren, Creative Director at Sagaform AB.
In the Byon X Emma Widell collection we meet three pots with three distinct personalities. Facy, Patty and Muddy are glazed in Byon’s signature colours, some in zebra stripes and all with sculptural details designed to capture attention.
– Facy is bold yet humble, Patty is playful and fearless, while Muddy may look rough on the outside but carries a soul that goes straight to your heart, explains Emma Widell.
All pots stand out and are impossible not to notice, touch or talk about. But in this collection Facy takes an even more central role. The face, a recurring symbol in Emma’s art, carries several layers of meaning.
– The face has been with me for a long time, since my time studying sociology. It symbolises the way we present ourselves in different situations in everyday life. Often my faces have big noses or features that stand out – a reminder that the unique is always more beautiful than the polished, says Emma.
The BYON capsule collection with Emma Widell launches in early September and will be available in a limited edition.

About Emma Widell
Emma Widell is a Swedish artist and ceramicist based in Malmö. She began her artistic journey as a painter, but during the pandemic she found her true home in clay – a material that quickly became her greatest passion. Her design language is characterised by strong colours, vibrant glazes and zebra stripes, often combined with sculptural elements such as faces. With a background in social pedagogy and sociology, she allows her work to reflect both personal experiences and a broader dialogue about identity, beauty and imperfection.
