Chr. Hansen at SNAXPO: Natural color solutions for snack foods

Snack professionals attending the SNAXPO trade show in Phoenix, Arizona, US March 17-19, 2012 are invited to visit Chr. Hansen’s booth to see our full range of natural colors for snack foods and to discuss the opportunities in natural colors with leading color experts.

Chr. Hansen recently expanded its Technical R&D Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to specifically address the growing need for natural color solutions for snack food and other prepared foods.

“Our new Global Expertise Center features the most state-of-the-art equipment and technical capabilities to advise on applying natural colors for products, which include extruded and baked applications, topically applied oils and spray-dried powders for seasoning blends. Chr. Hansen now offers a wide range of natural colors specifically for the snack food industry. Our natural colors range from yellow, orange, red and brown shades, to give your product the most appealing hue that will satisfy your consumers,” says Byron Madkins, Director, Color Product Development, Chr. Hansen, Inc.

Of the 2010 retail snacks sales of $11.3 billion dollars as reported by the Snack Food Association, it is estimated that 34% or approximately $3.8 billion use color.

“As the snack food industry continues to explore ways to offer their consumers a cleaner label by switching from synthetic to natural colors, Chr. Hansen offers a wide range of pigments, including annatto, turmeric, paprika, red beet, beta carotene, orange, violet and black carrots, caramel and a wide range of blends to best meet your product needs,” Byron Madkins continues.

“Factors such as your recipe, food matrix, processing, background color, pH, temperature, drying time and packaging can greatly influence the exact final color shade you will obtain. For any snack application, Chr. Hansen has the right natural color solution that will satisfy your demanding manufacturing and stability requirements.

Our expert staff in our Product Development and Applications Laboratory can assist you with your application work at the bench, pilot and production levels, product formulation, overcoming stability issues, and ultimately providing you with the best color solution for your product.”

Come visit our booth #750 at SNAXPO in Phoenix, Arizona March 17-19, 2012. We are happy to further discuss how we can assist you with all of your natural color needs.
