Recently Lindab delivered no less than one kilometer of ventilation ducts in fossil-free steel to Höjdpunkten 5 in Lund, Sweden. This innovative construction project is developed and managed by real estate company Vectura, while Skanska handles the construction. Aiming for LEED Gold certification, the 24,000 square metre building which will house offices and research facilities, are to fulfil strict environmental requirements and contribute to a more sustainable future. The fossil-free steel comes from SSAB and is produced using the HYBRIT® technology. As one of few suppliers, Lindab has received a test delivery, which makes it possible to deliver products several years before the planned regular production of fossil-free steel.

We’re pleased to share that Lindab Sweden for the second consecutive year has been certified as a “Great Place to Work” by the company Great Place to Work Sverige.

- We are very proud that in a challenging time we are also strengthening our results on a broad front compared to the last survey and thereby continue to be a certified Great Place to Work. Extra gratifying is that we are once again seeing tangible improvements in the areas we have consciously worked on for a longer time. It is a fine mark of the commitment and work all our employees put in to continue developing our workplace culture and work environment. With operations in 32 locations, continuous development work with commitment, culture and leadership is extremely important for our success as a company, says John Gauffin, Managing Director of Lindab Sweden.

Lindab is advancing its position in technical ventilation products through the acquisition of the French ventilation specialist ATIB. The acquisition also strengthens Lindab's sales and distribution in western France.

ATIB is a well-established French distributor of ventilation and indoor climate products. Most of the sales consist of ventilation systems for commercial properties. The product range includes air handling units, silencers, air diffusers, fire protection products and filters.

Sales of technical products are, to a large extent, directed through ventilation consultants, who prescribe the products to be used in ventilation systems. ATIB has in-depth knowledge of technical sales and long-standing relationships with customers in the field. This creates opportunities for additional sales of Lindab's technical products and knowledge transfer to other parts of Lindab.

"We are pleased to welcome ATIB to Lindab. New growth opportunities are created within an attractive product area.”, says Ola Ringdahl, President and CEO of Lindab. "ATIB is a well-managed company that is appreciated for its technical expertise and its long-term customer relationships. We see good opportunities to increase both our and ATIB's sales and to expand Lindab's knowledge in the field of technical ventilation products in the French market. We are also very pleased that Cyril Ravon and Emmanuel Ravon will continue to lead ATIB, as part of Lindab Group."

It might be a bit too much to call the plenum box an unsung hero of a ventilation system, but the fact is that it actually plays a crucial role in regulating the air flow and noise level. The plenum box ensures a balanced air flow, even distribution of the air and effective sound attenuation - all for better comfort and air quality. Say hello Shrek, a fairly new colleague in Haderslev, Denmark. The automated guided vehicle is named after the famous green character in the animated films and has now been a member of staff for exactly a year. In that year it has moved more than 8.700 pallets and covered a distance of more than 1.500 kilometers.

“We have previously had skilled operators standing on lifters to move these amounts of pallets. Now the operators use the time for production instead” says Production Engineer Niels Kammer.

Earlier this year, well-known restaurant VakVarjú Buda in Budapest reopened after nearly nine months of renovation and expansion. During the design of the ventilation system, Klíma-Max Kft. applied Lindab solutions in the guest area, kitchen and back office areas, focusing on design and function. Diffusers, silencers and front panels of different sizes and shapes both helped supply fresh air to the rooms without draught effects as well as fit into the aesthetics of the restaurant.

“Thanks to the newest air handling solutions, our team works in much more comfort” says Rudolf Semsei, owner of the VakVarjú restaurants.

In our serial about good indoor air, time has come to talk about relative humidity. Relative humidity is the amount of moisture present in the air, and the optimal level in a room is from 40% to 60%. When it goes below 30% you may experience irritated mucous membranes, dry eyes and sinus discomfort. When it goes above 60% the presence of moisture and dirt can cause mould and other biological contaminants to thrive. Inhaling or touching mould can cause hay fever-type symptoms and trigger asthma attacks. Too much humidity can of course also cause damage to the building. Depending on the problem one can use dehumidifiers or ventilation to reduce moisture in the air, raise the temperature of cold surfaces where moisture condenses and use insulation.

In 2022 Lindab Romania started a partnership with the Romanian Bikers for Humanity association. With the main common target to raise basic housing for poor families and raise conditions for education among children, Lindab Romania offers roofs for special causes every year. The first project was the building of a third party association for children all over Romania to have a camp base to spend a holiday free of charge. Pictured is last years project which was housing for ten families and this year the project is to build a cultural center in Valcea county. We’re happy to see this admirable initiative!

This is what it looks like when we manufacture our ventilation ducts from fossil-free steel in the factory in Grevie, Sweden. The fossil-free steel comes from SSAB and is manufactured using HYBRIT® technology. Together with Vattenfall and LKAB, SSAB has developed the technology where hydrogen is used instead of coal in the iron ore reduction process, which means that the residual product is water instead of greenhouse gas emissions.

A revolutionary steel manufacturing technology that we are proud to be a part of.
