PEMA holds 2021 annual general meeting, plans upcoming activities, looks ahead to challenges facing global ports sector

The Port Equipment Manufacturers Association (PEMA) has held its annual general meeting, during which it reviewed the current state of the Association – the world’s only forum and voice for the global port equipment and technology sectors – planned upcoming activities and looked ahead to the challenges facing the sector.

The Association’s statutory activity report was presented, and a number of procedural points were addressed, including financial statements, composition of the Board, the continuation of its programme of events and meetings, and the compilation and publication of papers and reports on key issues facing the global ports and terminals sector such as safety, efficiency, and sustainability.

The PEMA annual general meeting was held on June 17, with some 80 attendees joining via a digital conferencing service.

As announced separately, Achim Dries, CEO and MD of the VAHLE Group, was elected PEMA president. His election follows the death of former PEMA president, Ottonel Popesco, earlier this year.

In addition, after the general assembly unanimously approved the composition of the Board of Directors, Michael Eckle from Conductix-Wampfler was elected as First Vice President, while Jon Sojo from Tratos Cavi SPA was elected as Second Vice President.

Members also discussed upcoming activities, including the continuation of its programme of events and meetings, and the compilation and publication of papers and reports on key issues facing the global ports and terminals sector such as safety, efficiency, and sustainability.
