Consat Telematics solution go live in Finnmark

On October 1st, Consat Telematics went live with their public tranport solution in Finnmark in northern Norway. The PTA Snelandia had divided the county in three tenders (for the areas in Finnmark: west, central & east). Three different PTOs won one area each, and all three of them decided to buy systems from Consat. In addition, the PTA had a tender for their back office system, and Consat won that tender as well. In other words, four projects in one.

Nicklas Trygg was responsible for the delivery to Boreal (Finnmark East), Joakim Sällberg for Tide (Central Finnmark) and Anneli Dunghed for Connect Bus (Finnmark West). Anneli and Nicklas were also responsible for the delivery to the PTA. The winners of the tenders were published a relatively short time before go live date (about 8 months), resulting in a very tight schedule. Our installers worked very intensively with retrofits to make sure a sufficient number of buses were available on Oct 1st. Our delivery for the final buses are scheduled to arrive around February 2024.

To everyone involved, THANK YOU for your fantastic work! We’ve done it with a great team spirit!

Fun facts about Finnmark
Although Finnmark is the largest county in Norway when it comes to area, it only has around 75 000 inhabitants, and the population density is just around 1.5 person/km2. I can’t think of any place farther north with scheduled bus traffic. From Wikipedia: “Situated at the northernmost part of continental Europe, where the Norwegian coastline swings eastward, Finnmark is an area "where East meets West," in culture as well as in nature and geography.
