Consat Telematics awarded 5-year contract to modernize the Société de transport de Saguenay's CAD/AVL

Göteborg, Sweden / Quebec, Canada – November 25, 2025 – Consat Telematics awarded 5-year contract to modernize the Société de transport de Saguenay's CAD/AVL

Consat Telematics has been selected by the Société de transport de Saguenay (STS) to replace its Computer-Aided Dispatch and Automatic Vehicle Locator system (CAD/AVL), including a 5-year renewable support & maintenance contract. This award is a first in Quebec for Consat, even though it has been providing telematics solutions to most of the ATUQ transit agencies for many years, with more than 1700 connected vehicles.

With an ambitious schedule of less than five months from award to go-live, including the summer months, the Consat and STS teams had to move fast. Strong commitment and excellent collaboration allowed the project team to complete the backend central system set-up and the component procurement in just three months and then complete the equipment retrofit in less than three weeks. Five transit agencies in Quebec will change CAD/AVL this year and the STS, although the last to choose its new system supplier, will be the first to have its up and running.

"Despite an operational environment with its share of daily surprises, the project team managed, in a very short time, to integrate its new Consat CAD/AVL smoothly with no service interruption. Thanks to effective change management, we have achieved a very good level of acceptability and commitment among STS employees, who are still discovering the new opportunities offered by the Consat CAD/AVL" said Frédéric Michel, General Manager of the Société de transport du Saguenay.

Consat's CAD/AVL system will enable STS to achieve its objectives, which are:

  • Meet changing user expectations by providing real-time information while improving the quality and reliability of the information provided
  • Improve user experience of STS employees with intuitive, simple and visually ergonomic tools and interfaces
  • Ensure a smooth transition from the current system to the new CAD/AVL, without interruption, through rigorous planning and execution

"This breakthrough in the Quebec market will allow Consat to highlight the opportunities offered by the full integration of telematics and CAD/AVL, including energy management for electric buses," said Paul Gagnon, the new CEO of Consat North America, who is also from the Saguenay region. "Our commissioning at the STS coincides with the first of many deliveries of Nova Bus electric buses to all Quebec transit agencies. The time to demonstrate Consat's state-of-the-art electromobility solutions in real operation could not be better. »
