Consat Telematics wins Skånetrafiken contract to deliver technology platform for approximately 1,100 vehicles

Consat Telematics has been awarded the contract for Vehicle Technology and related services for Skånetrafiken’s buses and trams. The new agreement includes both technical solutions and services that will support a modern, sustainable, and data-driven public transportation system in the Skåne region of southern Sweden.

“We are very proud to have earned Skånetrafiken’s trust in delivering our system. This is a strategically important win that further confirms our position as a leading provider in this space, as well as our ability to manage complex and large-scale deployments. We look forward to a long-term, close, and successful partnership,” says Pär Thuresson, CEO of Consat Telematics.

“This new agreement supports our ever-growing ambitions around customer satisfaction, sustainable mobility in Skåne, a good working environment, and financial balance. We are now creating the conditions for stable and reliable IT operations in our vehicles – which will allow us to use data to continue improving public transportation in the region,” says Saman Tondnevis.

The agreement means that Consat Telematics will deliver an in-vehicle platform that will be installed in approximately 1,100 buses and trams across Skånetrafiken’s fleet. The solution acts as a central hub – the heart – of the vehicle, enabling both real-time passenger information and efficient traffic management support.

The robust and flexible platform combines IT equipment and onboard services and is future-proof thanks to its modular and scalable architecture. It provides strong opportunities for continuous development and the ability to adapt functionality to evolving needs – such as offering tailored features and advanced analytics.

Skånetrafikens current agreement runs until 2028 and Consat's system will be used across both current and future traffic contracts. The new technology enables improvements such as enhanced passenger displays, automated stop announcements, and continuous monitoring and analysis of vehicle systems and traffic data – all with the goal of increasing customer satisfaction, improving the working environment, and boosting operational efficiency.
