Press release -

Swedish entrepreneur Dan Olofsson recognised for long-term support for Ukraine

Dan Olofsson has maintained a long-term commitment to Ukraine, beginning 19 years ago when his company Sigma acquired a majority stake in an IT services company with 60 employees in Kharkiv. Over the years, the company has grown into a highly successful firm with 2,000 employees in the major cities in Ukraine, serving customers across Europe, the USA, and Ukraine. In 2024, Sigma Software was ranked as the best employer among IT service companies in Ukraine.

Beyond IT, Olofsson is also the largest shareholder in Cindrigo, a company developing clean baseload energy solutions in Europe. Waste-to-energy plants were about to begin construction when Russia launched its war against Ukraine in February 2022. As a result, the projects were put on hold. However, there is now a mutual interest in restarting the initiative.

Olofsson has actively supported Ukraine through media advocacy, engagement with the Swedish government and business leaders, direct financial support to Ukraine’s army, and by running the philanthropic project Star for Life in Ukraine.

Given this background, Olofsson received a warm welcome during his recent three-day visit to Kyiv and Lviv. He met with the staff of Sigma Software and Star for Life, who have demonstrated remarkable resilience during wartime, as well as with several Ukrainian officials.

Olofsson engaged in discussions with: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov, Serhii Sukhirnyn, Head of Ukraine’s Infrastructure Restoration Agency, Mayor of Lviv Andriy Sadovyi and the Deputy Governor of Lviv Oblast Andriy Godyk.

In recognition of his dedication to Ukraine, Olofsson was awarded prestigious medals by both the Ukrainian Army and the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

Dan Olofsson’s statement on Ukraine:
“The major cities in Ukraine are functioning almost as they did before the war. Ukraine deserves our full support in stopping Putin’s aggression. They are also fighting for us. One of the best ways to support Ukraine is through increased trade, business and investment in the country. I also appreciate what the Swedish government is doing. Ukraine’s fight is ours.”
