Spurv-1 exploration well did not encounter hydrocarbons

As operator of licence 4/06 Wintershall Noordzee B.V. has drilled the Spurv-1 (5504/1-4) exploration well in the western part of the Danish North Sea. No hydrocarbons were discovered in the well.

Spurv-1 was drilled as a vertical well and reached its total depth in Chalk of Late Cretaceous age at 3500 metres vertically below mean sea level. Cores were taken and a logging programme was carried out.

Spurv-1 was spudded on 21 April 2013 with the jack-up rig Noble George Sauvageau at the position 55° 55’ 53.19" N; 04° 03' 56.56" E (UTM zone 31; 6 199 099 m N; 566 586 m E), where the water depth is 53 metres.

The well is now being plugged and abandoned. The jack-up rig Noble George Sauvageau will subsequently be moved out of the Danish Sector.
