Background information

What is Yps?
Roughly speaking, Yps is a combination of lifestyle and urban culture, as in "Wired" magazine, and comics strips for grown-ups. Additionally, it always comes with a free premium gift. With this issue you’ll get 3 different clip-on camera lenses for your smartphone.

The latest issue features, besides the comic strips with Donald Trump and Ted Cruz, specials on motorcycles, computer games, soccer, music and funny but useful gadgets for everyday life.

The first ever issue of Yps was published in 1975 as a kids magazine. Since 2012 Yps is published bimonthly by Egmont Ehapa Media and targets mainly men aged 25 plus. Popular topics include adventure, science, innovation and a selection of comics, such as Lucky Luke, Popeye the Sailor Man and Asterix. Its flagship character is the green squared kangaroo called Yps.

Why Donald Trump and Ted Cruz?
In every issue Yps features a comic story including well known celebrities, e.g. Ozzy Osbourne or Michael Douglas. Hence this year's presidential elections are also very present throughout the German media landscape. Martin Tazl, author and illustrator of the new comic piece “Viva Las Vegas”, thought this is the ideal topic for a satirical approach. And you’d have to admit, Donald Trump and Ted Cruz make a perfect pair of comic characters, don’t they?
