Inspiring a new definition of mobility
by David Degrange
Even if we cannot predict what the future of mobility will look like, one thing we are very sure of is the road will never be larger than today.
This is where we, the Cockpit of the Future initiative that I lead, start when exploring how to expand possibilities for consumers within vehicles. We have some constraints, that is definite. And we see automotive trends — connected car, autonomous driving, electric cars, car sharing, ride sharing — they are all going to transform the interior of tomorrow.
So, the question for us at Faurecia and my team becomes, how are we going to be disruptive and completely transform the user experience?
It’s with the product and the know-how.
Our aim is to deliver the most cohesive cockpit and a smart Life on Board experience that will meet the needs of consumers of the future.
Faurecia is the only one in the world mastering both interior know-how and seating know-how. We are, in the car, the supplier with the maximum surfaces. So, for tomorrow we need to animate and leverage this potential to give the best user experience depending on what our customers want to deliver.
Recently we decided to host interactive workshops and start to tease our customers with our methodology around Cockpit of the Future. We began with some potential use cases, and then show them we have the competencies to build the technological package and then deliver complete subsystems.
And it’s been rewarding, but hard work. Faurecia set up a team of multi-disciplinary team allowing us to answer all needs for the cabin of tomorrow and for after tomorrow. As experts, we are an integrator of technology for perceived value so we can deliver the best customer experience inside the car through our interiors. We connect everything: architecture, HMI, software, comfort , advanced safety, perceived quality and smart surfaces. All in all to deliver an adaptive and predictive cabin for our customers, and ultimately, consumers.
By mastering both interior and seating systems, we have complete legitimacy to really invent and create the new in-car experience of the future. That’s why Cockpit of the Future is there, and that’s why we engage our customers around this initiative.
So now it is up to us to lead this cockpit transformation. With all the possibilities, what are you looking forward to seeing your vehicle become?
